In Spain “Mujeres en Igualdad” is the Section of EUW

Post Dictator Franco, Spain joined EUW in 1992, forming a confederation of small women's groups, now called Federación National de Mujeres en Igualdad, a registered NGO. Our HQ is in Madrid and there are more than 200 groups across the country. Many of our members go on to elected senior political positions regionally and nationally and return to our organisation bringing experience and inspiration. International Women's Day March 9 and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women November 25 are celebrated by all groups across our country. The Federation has a full programme of projects on women's issues: the one for 2024 is a Guide to Raise Awareness and Prevent Gender Violence in Adolescents.
