The European People’s Party is a centre right political grouping in the European Parliament. Women account for 30% of all members of the EPP group in the European Parliament. The group adopted a gender equality policy and now 50% of the Presidency of the group are women.The European Union of Women and the EPP women’s section have close links and many of its MEPs are members of the EUW

At the EPPW meeting in Warsaw in April 2015, six women spoke about the past 25 years of post-Communist democracy. They represented Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland and Romania. Although great strides have been made three themes emerged: the need for quotas to be enshrined in law for women in all walks of life from politics to business; economic empowerment of women; and the need to curtail domestic violence.
